Industry-Leading Performance and Robustness for Marine Applications

2J Antennas is expanding its “Big Medusa'' series by adding the new high performance heavy-duty Iridium Quadrifilar Helix (QHA) antenna (2J7B26JB-C177N-B16J). This industry-leading passive antenna provides superior connection to the Iridium network with a high peak gain of 2.7 dBi in low elevation angles while maintaining a 86.4% efficiency (far above the industry standards). This helical antenna is unique in its simplicity of design and has an extremely low axial ratio below 3 dB that optimizes the circular polarization and delivers superior performance worldwide.

Big Medusa is a simple solution to the problem of non geosynchronous satellite connections where most antenna designs focus on extended range, receiving signals over large arcs, but having null spots directly overhead or at other inopportune locations. Extremely robust and waterproof, this design was developed for marine applications where reliability and mission critical communications are the number one priority during extreme weather conditions.

The omnidirectional radiation pattern brings a full spectrum of signal quality within the 1621 MHz band and with superior RHCP rejecting multi-path interference and optimizing signal strength making it the ideal choice for marine environments.

Installation / Environmental

This durable and waterproof antenna is fully IP67, IP69 and IK09 certified offering resistance to water, dust and impact making it the number one solution for extreme weather conditions. The robust housing and base are manufactured with commercial grade ASA material. The antenna dimensions for the pole mount is Ø 96 x H200 and Ø 96 x H 131 for the screw mount configuration.

The 2J7B26JB-C177N-B16J offers various configurable anti-rotation mounting options that include pole with maximum Ø 43mm and screw mount with maximum 7mm surface thickness. As with all ground plane independent antennas, this system can be installed on any surface type with minimal restrictions.

2J Antennas is pleased to expand their 5GNR antenna family by adding the best in class 5GNR fiberglass internal antenna (2JE71). This ultra-compact off-the-shelf antenna combines high efficiency, reliability, and low device power consumption, making it ideal for IoT and M2M low power wide area (LPWA) technologies.

The 2JE71 is designed with omni-directional coverage and is optimized for 360-degree signal strength while maintaining stable gains and efficiency across all bands. The new 5GNR technology enhances mobile broadband and ultra-reliable low-latency communications. Edge and EV-DO are designed for digital mobile phone technology and wireless internet access improving data transmission while maintaining higher bit rates and advanced multiplexing techniques resulting in increased capacity and maximum throughput.

This antenna has been tested in their certified CTIA 3D anechoic chamber for precision accuracy in addition to meeting the shear force testing of 30Kgf (IEC62137-1-2:2007).

Installation and Durability

The 2JE71 offers a ground plane dependent internal antenna designed with a compact form factor ideal for space-restricted device integration. This antenna is manufactured out of high-grade fiberglass, a material known for durability and resistance to extreme temperatures ranging between -40C and +85C.

Proper antenna placement is fundamental for optimal performance and ideal for extremely small PCB application requirements by taking up minimal space without compromising performance. 2J's world-class team is ready to assist customers with any antenna integration needs, including full antenna parameter reports for impedance and OTA (over the air) measurements.
